Currently, our church meets on Saturday in a facility owned by a partner church of ours. This allows for us to have our day of ministry and service on Saturday. So, Sundays are all about family and rest. We saw no better option for Father's Day than to stick to the same routine.
The day started with Cameron playing soccer (typical Sunday morning), after which he came home to a lunch of favorites: Papa John's pizza and homemade salsa with chips. After lunch, he and Ruth both took a nap--a rarity for Cameron! The afternoon brought more than five hours of relaxing on the lanai: talking as a couple, reading the paper, watching a thunderstorm roll through, and playing with Ruth in the puddled remnants. In the evening, we went to the local ice cream shop on the corner where dads were given free cones for Father's Day.
All in all, I think Cam enjoyed not doing much of anything, and yet also feeling like he had accomplished more than he does on some of his busiest days at the office.
Ruth and I are tremendously blessed to have this man in our lives. I look forward to seeing what an amazing job he is going to do in raising our son!
Here's hoping your Father's Day was filled with as much family joy and laughter as ours was...
