Like Father, Like Son

This is one of Cameron's baby outfits, and one of Cameron's baby toys!

Good Year for Oranges!

We have an orange tree. The last two winters (orange-picking season) we have gotten between 15-25 oranges from it. This year the babies are just out and we have between 75 and 100. The tree will naturally shed some before harvesting time, but the crop will easily be twice the size of years past! Move over Tropicana, here come the Greenhaws :-)

(Ruth and Joseph had just finished playing in the water...hence the nakedness!)

No Eating the Baby

We're trying to work on Ruth's vocabulary. When she uses multiple simple words for something that she could say in one "big girl" word we try to correct her. Today she asked me to "baby in blanket," I agreed, but not without introducing her to the word swaddle. She looked puzzled. I said it several more times as I wrapped the baby up in the same way we used to wrap Joseph. The whole time she studied my face more than my actions of wrapping the blanket. I was pleased to see she was making such an effort to learn the new word.

Finally, when I was finished, I handed her the baby and said, "See? Mommy swaddled the baby for you." She looked at me with a serious face and said, "No Mommy. No eat the baby." And with that she walked off.

Apparently the next lesson will be the difference between swaddle and swallow!
