T-minus one month and counting!

We have less than one month to go until Ruth turns one year old! We are sooooo exctied! To top it off, she has started walking. About two weeks ago she began walking between Cameron and I when we would coax her with favorite toys; now she does it of her own free will more and more.

Sometimes at night we will sit and read in the family room, while Ruth plays. She will be walking along holding on to furniture and then just let go and take off across the open family room. After about 15-20 steps she will turn and look at us, like "Did you see that?!?!" We cheer and applaud and then she will turn around right there and toddle back to us. It is amazing how it is happening so fast. She will certainly be ready to show off for her big party in a few weeks!

This past weekend we took advantage of the free day off work and went out to Orlando for a little family vacation. We swam and ate and relaxed. We also introduced Ruth to the world of Disney-- the cheap version anyways ;-)

Disney has a place called Downtown Disney which is basically every possible Disney item you could ever imagine (and some you would never imagine) being sold at 20 different specialty stores all located on a beautiful large boardwalk around a lake. Amidst the stores are little snack shops, benches to sit at look at the lake, nicer restaurants, a Ghirardelli chocolate store, a movie theater, a Lego store, and the famous Cirque du Soleil.

Really, it is just a great little place to experience the "magic" and the excitement of Disney for no cost other than what you choose to spend. Even the Ghirardelli chocolate shop hands out free samples. (Cameron's favorite!)

So, we took Ruth and she loved it! A lot of the little girls visiting there are dressed up like their favorite princess, and as far as Ruth was concerned they WERE princesses. She oohed and aahed over all the kids running around and we took her into a few of the shops to let her try on some princess tiaras. It was great!

The only down side-- we forgot the camera! So, for now you will just have to imagine how cute she was. But with it being just an hour away, we decided we will try to take her out there a bit more often-- and remember the camera!
